Future Aviators awarded over $20,000 in scholarships and prizes

Queensland students and teachers are flying high as the winners of the 15th annual Aerospace Industry Education Awards are announced.

The awards recognise the efforts and achievements of students and teachers from 20 Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools across Queensland.

The Honourable Shannon Fentiman, Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training Skills and Development presented the awards at a ceremony held at Room Three Sixty, QUT Gardens Point in Brisbane today (Wednesday 20 November 2019).

The Gateway to Industry Schools Program gives students the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to enter the aviation and aerospace industry.

With over 90 nominations received this year across 12 award categories, the following winners were announced:

It is students like these, whose passion for aviation will see them continue their training and education to take up professions in the aerospace industry. Students are able to pursue their passion because we have dedicated teachers who are not just passionate about aviation but also about teaching and inspiring their students.

The Gateway to Industry Schools Program is funded by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training and hosted by Aviation Australia.

The 20 Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools, with students throughout Queensland studying the senior secondary subject, Aerospace Studies, are supported by more than 30 aerospace industry partners.
