E1, E4 and E5 Exclusion Removal Training

This exclusion removal training is designed to meet all requirements necessary to remove the electrical exclusions. This applies to both;

  • CASR Part 66 B1 licence holders with exclusions E1, E4 and E5
  • DASR66 B1 MAML holders with Exclusions E1, E6.1, E44 and E60

There are three different options for you to choose from for this course;

  1. Instructor-Led Theory + Practical
  2. Self-Study + Practical
  3. Practical only*

* You must have completed the theory requirements to enrol into your practical only course

You must have enrolled into an RPL with Aviation Australia for you to receive:

  • CASA Form 465 – provided to CASA.
  • AQF Statement of Attainment – listing all Units of Competency successfully completed.

Instructor-led Theory Course

This course is delivered in two blocks:
Block A – Week 1 & 2 (Module 3 and 4)
Block B – Week 3 & 4 (Module 5 and partial 11/12)

Providing the option to complete in one sitting or two.

This is a fast-paced course with a high level of technical content. We provide pre-course training material and you are required to complete this prior to commencing the course. During the course, a minimum of 10 hours per week self-study is expected, to revise and prepare for the regulatory examinations.

Access to the courseware will be provided approximately 4 weeks prior to course commencement (or upon enrolment confirmation if within 4 weeks). You will have 90 days online access.

Enrolments close 2 weeks prior to course commencement to allow sufficient time for pre-course study.

  2. If you have both Fixed wing (B1.1 and/ or B1.2) and Rotary wing (B1.3 and/ or B1.4) licenses, and wish to have Exclusions E1, E4 & E5 removed from your licenses, please be aware it is a CASA requirement to study for & sit both the following approved examinations:

  3. If you are unable to complete the practical requirements in your workplace, Aviation Australia have a practical course available at an additional cost. Please note the theory examinations must successfully be completed prior to attending the practical training course.

The practical course only covers the practical requirements identified in the CASR Part 66 Manual of Standards for Exclusions E1, E4 and E5. It is designed for experienced engineers who have completed the theory course. All applicants must have a good understanding of electrical and electronic fundamentals, digital techniques and electronic instrument systems.

  • MEA203 – Remove and install advanced aircraft electrical system components
  • MEA223 – Inspect aircraft electrical systems and components
  • MEA227 – Test and troubleshoot aircraft electrical systems and components
  • MEA246 – Fabricate and/or repair aircraft electrical hardware or parts
  • MEA294 – Inspect, test and troubleshoot advanced aircraft electrical systems and components
  • MEA296 – Use electrical test equipment
  • MEA343 – Remove and install avionic system components
