If you hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and hold (or have held) a Multi Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) and wish to take the next step up in your career, then this course is for you!
The Advanced Diploma of Aviation (Pilot in Command) offers you the ability to study for Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory and apply this in operating a modern jet aircraft in a multi-crew environment. Working as a team of two, students will practice Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) in both Captain and First Officer roles.
The vital areas of risk management and aviation security are covered in depth. You will will apply this learning practically while operating in both Pilot Flying and Pilot monitoring roles on simulated airline revenue flights in a sophisticated flight simulator.
This qualification covers all CASA pre-requisites required prior to the ATPL Flight Test including:
- Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory subjects
- Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC)
Other topics covered and considered relevant to Air Transport operations include:
- Aviation Risk Management
- Aviation Security
Payment by credit card or direct deposit. Each option allows for either full payment of the course, or by study blocks.
Please note that CASA examination fees are not included in this course cost.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Aviation Australia offers an opportunity for qualified airline pilots, or holders of an Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) or ATPL theory subjects to have previous studies, qualifications and experience assessed for certification against this course.
The RPL process usually takes around 2-4 weeks to complete on receipt of the RPL application and supporting evidence. RPL fees will be confirmed at time of application.

There are no specific course start dates, however the unit AVIN0001 – Command an aircraft in a multi-crew environment must be completed onsite at an Aviation Australia approved location. This entails 7 days face-to-face training.
