Students attended careers seminar with Defence Force Recruiting

Aviation Australia Cairns based students attended a careers presentation hosted by Defence Force Recruiting last week.

The presentation was held at the Cairns Aviation Skills Centre on the 01 February, with the purpose of educating current students on career opportunities within the defence department.

Those in attendance were current engineering students at Aviation Australia, as well as Year 11 and Year 12 high school students who are undertaking a Certificate II through the training provider.

“The presentation answered a lot of questions I had about working for the air force,” said Aviation Australia engineering student, Rowan Culliton.

“I also got the opportunity to talk to the presenters after the session which was great to receive that one-on-one time with serving members of the defence force.”

Members of the Australian Defence Force discussed their professional experiences, including on-the-job tasks and international travel opportunities.

“It was interesting to hear about all the great countries that the defence force travel to for work from time to time. It provided insight on where job opportunities within the defence force may lead to,” said Rowan.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the careers session and Aviation Australia is thankful to the Defence Force Recruiting team for travelling to host the event.
