Cairns Airport Careers Day Success
Approximately 450 people attended the second Cairns Airport Careers Day which was held on Sunday 26 August.
The event which is free of charge to the general public is organised by the Cairns Aviation Skills Centre (Aviation Australia), Hawker Pacific and Cairns Airport. The aircraft showcased on the day is provided by the aviation industry and proves to be a big drawcard for those in the Cairns area who are interested in aircraft and the aviation industry.
The day is designed to provide practical advice and information on the employment potential that exists within the Cairns aviation industry. A wealth of information about pathways and potential careers in the aviation sector is provided from experts in the field.
The Cairns Aviation Skills Centre was opened to the public with part of the centre being converted into an area with display booths for aviation industry companies to showcase their offerings and provide career advice.
Aircraft were on display in a special public airside access area in front of the Hawker Pacific hangar. The area contained a range of aircraft from the small MAF Cessna 206 through to larger transport aircraft such as Skytrans Dash 8 and REX Airlines SAAB 340. A good selection of helicopters were also on display as well as the QG Air rescue helicopter.
Companies that exhibited on the day were Aviation Australia, Hawker Pacific, Hawker Pacific Avionics, Cairns Airport, DESBT, Nautilus Aviation, Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Defence Force Recruiting, Mission Aviation Fellowship Pilot Training, REX Airlines, GBR Helicopters, MiHaven student accommodation, Qantaslink, CQU University Pilot Training, QG Air fixed and rotary wing, Chartair, Skytek, Royal Flying Doctor Service, Hinterland Aviation and Skytrans.
