Boeing Defence Australia partners with Aviation Australia to provide scholarship program
Three Aviation Australia students were awarded with a Boeing Defence Australia Scholarship in Brisbane last week, providing them with the essential training required to begin an aviation career in aircraft maintenance.
Mellory Aitken, Bruce Williams and Emma Sanjuro were the lucky recipients, and have been recognised for their potential to become outstanding and passionate aircraft maintenance engineers.
The scholarships were awarded by Boeing Defence Australia as part of their commitment to developing the skills of the next generation of aviation personnel.
Up to four Boeing Defence Australia Scholarships will be provided each year for students to enrol in a Certificate IV or Diploma level Aeroskills course with Aviation Australia.
It is crucial to keep an ongoing supply of quality maintenance personal in the aviation industry, Boeing Defence Australia has made the decision to invest in Australian talent to ensure there is a strong pipeline of highly-skilled Australians ready to take on the job.
These selected students will be expected to complete the knowledge requirements necessary in acquiring a Certificate IV in Aeroskills. This certification is the foundation of their employment as apprentices in the industry, and then towards their diploma and maintenance engineers licence.
The first recipient received their scholarship in Cairns at the end of last year, and another three scholarships were awarded in Brisbane last week. Of the three awards presented in Brisbane Mellory Aitken and Bruce Williams are just completing the institutional course for the theory towards their Certificate IV in Aeroskills, while Emma Sanjurjo will be starting the course in February.
