Aviation Australia celebrates International Women’s Day

Aviation Australia staff and students celebrated International Women’s Day with a ladies appreciation lunch on 08 March.

The lunch provided an opportunity for students to network with one another as well as staff members, and to learn about the impact they are making in the typically male-dominated aviation industry.

Students and staff listened to an inspirational talk from Aviation Australia’s Sales and Business Development Manager for international students, Rachel Dudock. Rachel recounted her career journey as a female in the aviation industry, including her background as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

Staff members came together to provide an expansive spread of food and drink for students and staff. Lucky door prizes were also gifted to fortunate students throughout the event, whilst a slideshow of women in aviation over the years played in the background.

Approximately 60 students and staff members attended the lunch. From this, it was evident that the typically male-dominated aviation industry is increasingly providing equal opportunity for both men and women.

Aviation Australia hopes to make the event a regular occurrence, providing female students with a support network throughout their studies in the aviation industry.
